Currently at the property. Took it for the location as many recommended. Only one night Stop-Over in Kyoto. Not the best choice nonetheless. Even while they don't normally upgrade, we got upgraded to a Deluxe room. The room is just OK for one night. Absolutely basic. What was to be expected, though. The location benefit turns out to actually be a downside. The only benefit is, that on a map it seems to be right in the City. But all he relevant sightseeing locations are very near to PH and HR. We have to go there 15-25 minutes by Uber while it won't be more than 5-10 from them. PH is even right in the middle of one of the main hot spots. We generally don't use public transportation if not absolutely needed. Breakfast is absolutely horrible quality. No real bread, just toast. No cheese at all. Only two minor quality ham. You get an empty table, you even pick up the cutlery for yourself. Not very pleasant. After seeing the buffet, we discussed skipping and breakfasting somewhere outside. Decided against the idea just because we would have needed some time to research. If we would have known some better place for breakfast, we would have left immediately. Reception service is very nice and friendly, though their offerings are very limited by concept. Actually, the HP is newly built so it is absolutely acceptable to sleep. But that's the only thing you should do here. Overall, btw., Kyoto is highly overrated from our point of view. We came from Tokio, which was much interesting. Also, Kyoto is a massively crowded city full of western tourists. We definitely won't return. Neither to the hotel, nor to the city. Saw it 24h, which is all one needs. Crowded tourist situation everywhere im Kyoto:
