Currently writing those lines while on board AF1070 CDG-HEL. Spoke a bit with the purser about the upcoming changes and she said she had no additional info, but certainly they are not looking forward to this, and said that the best way to have it not happening would be for passengers to give bad reviews and leaving comments about this negative change.
I am wondering if they plan to give something for free for top status passengers (both at AF and KL)
Concerning the worst catering in short-mid haul J nowadays, I really don't think AF is the worst. I actually find the food ok, with a couple exceptions aside (like the breakfast I got this morning between DUS and CDG (a very heavy brioche with smoked salmon and I don't like the poached egg option either). It could certainly be better (hot food or choice of main dish) but if you look at what KLM proposes in J, this is shameful. The wanderbox fells really cheap and the contents equally cheap. The "desserts" are always extremely sweet and the tuna slices on the Korean salad get thinner and thinner at every flight. And why would you serve dry bananas with that? BA got better with the hot food selection especially on longer mid-haul flights. Haven't flown LH group airlines recently, I am trying to avoid them like the plague, but having flown Aegean from BRU last weekend, I could say that the SN loft lounge beats hands down the KLM AMS lounge !
