I believe this has been documented/posted somewhere that you still can provide your AA # even if you'd booked through AS and use your points. The way to do it (and I've done it twice already using my AS miles) was to book the ticket as new passenger and not fill out the elite number. Of course, you'd have to enter all information as in booking for a new passenger and you just don't save the passenger information since you already have them saved in your profile in the first place. After booking, access your itinerary in AA and scroll down to edit passenger information and add your AA elite number to the booking. Once entered and saved, you can then select MCE seats. Just done this last week. HTH.
