Thanks so much. I didn't realize there's no such thing as a Saver Award in Premium Plus (I assumed that's what it was by it's price of 65k mies and the font being in green lol).

If waitlisting isn't allowed by the rules, then I'm not going to try to talk an agent into it. Just not sure why the rules would be set up that way when Polaris will still cost more miles in this situation.

It's also interesting that award waitlists now clear after upgrades (when I worked at UA it was the other way around).

Anyway I just figured this would be a good way to sample Polaris on a slightly longer flight (11 hours). I'll just keep an eye on AA for availability on JL (only 60k one way for business and 80k one way for First vs Polaris at 100k...they seem to release 3 days out pretty consistently,e ven on Fridays). The United flight saves time since it is nonstop to KIX (JL has that from LAX but starting in SFO requires a connection in LAX or HND and gets me to KIX a lot later).

I think United still has sweet spots for Economy (domestic Japan for only 5k one way), but premium cabins not so much
