Towards the end of my time there QF were starting to introduce group boarding so if this is important to you you may want to see if you can artificially get some status by getting a credit card or signing up to Qantas club membership (Paid for lounge membership much like Admiral clubs in the US).
Qantas Club membership in and of itself does not provide any sort of priority boarding under the new group boarding rules. Credit card sign ups almost exclusively do not provide QF status credits, and those that do serve up a meagre amount
