To delay the replacement of the fleet until 2029 they could do a refurbishment of the existing cabins such as replacement of the IFE and overhaul of the seat mechanics so that the seats are functioning properly again as a Plan B given that the cabins are at the absolute end of their life cycle. But keeping the A330's in the fleet for longer and upgrading them under these circumstances is a absolute no go.
In the 330s, I would be perfectly happy with "new" cabins like the 777 or 343. Just add some Y+ seats. But I kind of get that at this point they are screwed. Waisting more time to redesign everything just for the A330s make no sense. They are basically out of time at this point. No time to redesign, no time to order new planes.
