You can make a booking in your name and some hotels may allow your employee to check in but they're not supposed to because it is status sharing. The most likely outcome is that upon arrival the hotel will remove your name from the booking (thereby removing any credit and any perks) but it's possible your employee may be turned away. The correct method for booking a stay for someone else is to make a pre-pay booking while logged out so that the booking is not associated with your account. If you have points you'd like to use to book for someone else then you must call Marriott and they'll create the booking for you.
