What I've noticed recently is that a lot of chargers can be activated by a credit card using RF. I remember a random apartment complex that had some new chargers that were not any brand I recognized and when I tapped them with my CC, they did activate for charging (I wasn't in an EV, was just curious). This makes sense as the grant that was issued by the US Government required chargers to have this capability and not require an app. Makes it a bit easier, but it's still not even as close to seamless as Tesla's charging network.
