Travelpro is a crack of ..... They have a warranty but choose to not honor it. Same thing happened to me. 16 years ago (wow) I bought a Briggs and Riley to replace the TP turd. It served me without failure for all those years. The handle was getting sticky due to be dented over time. I mailed it in to them and they fixed it free of charge. I had to pay for mailing it to them but they covered the cost to return it to me. Took all of 6 weeks. I wish it were instantaneous but 6 weeks is reasonable on a bag 16 years old and million plus miles.

I strongly recommend Briggs and Riley. Alternatively, albeit heavier, I recommend Luggage Works. They are built for pilots. I have one new (shoulder) flight bag (to carry pilot gear) that is built incredibly well and well thought out. I have a friend with 20+ million miles on his Luggage Works and another with at least 10 million on his. They do require maintenance from time to time but are built to last.
