Rarely see an KDDI AU specific prepaid esim marketed to foreigners. Navitime Japan Travel is offering it with 5G + 4G https://japantravel.navitime.com/en/...wto0222en.link

Pricing
  • 3 days Tethering capacity: max 3GB - JPY1,890
  • 6 days Tethering capacity: max 6GB - JPY3,090
  • 9 days Tethering capacity: max 9GB - JPY4,090
  • 14 days Tethering capacity: max 15GB - JPY5,690
  • 21 days Tethering capacity: max 21GB - JPY8,290
  • 30 days Tethering capacity: max 30GB - JPY11,690
It seems that the fair use for non-tethering is 10GB/day before throttling. FAQs also mention providing wifi hotspot network access but from what I've read, many combini guest wifi networks were decommissioned during ~2022, so YMMV.

There were other domestic sms + data plans offered which didn't require MyNumber registration to activate but it seems like most MVNOs discontinued that. There are still contract MVNO domestic offerings for sms + data https://kakaku.com/mobile_data/sim/r...1&si_option7=1
