Bizarre - denied mileage from BA/IB flight
I’ve been a longtime lurker here and gotten lots of good information over the years. I was wondering if I could ask for advice on this strange situation.
I purchased a ticket and recently flew JFK-LHR-CDG. This was a normal revenue ticket - 001 ticket number - purchased from aa.com. Both legs were operated by BA, but JFK-LHR had an IB flight number on my ticket.
The LHR-CDG miles posted as normal, but those from JFK-LHR. I filled out a missing miles request and received a series of emails: 1) the usual request confirmation 2) notification that the loyalty points (2,762 to be precise) from the JFK-LHR leg has posted while redeemable miles were pending and 3) (several days letter) a notification from AA that BA had denied the request because of “unable to verify.” It’s unclear whether AA contacted Iberia at all during this process.
The loyalty points never posted in my account despite the second email. I would like those at the very least, and wanted advice on what to do now. Do I follow up with AA? Contact BA? Contact IB?
I have the boarding passes with my advantage number on them (which I sent AA initially), along with the bag tags, bag receipts, etc… This is quite frustrating — British Airways certainly knows I was on the JFK-LHR flight, because A) it was delayed and they sent me an apology to this end and B) because of the delay, my bag misconnected in LHR and BA sent me compensation for one day’s worth of essentials.
Apologies for the long post, and thank you for any advice!
