No schedule changes or anything (no IROPs). I got my original flights back, just not my seats. I would have gladly accepted SQ direct.

Update.
So, on the KUL-AKL leg, the lead FA did her usual meet and greet, and I explained my frustration. She said she was surprised to see me in that seat as she did see some paperwork with my name on the original seat. She then offered to ask the passenger now occupying my original window seat to swap with my aisle seat. I said, there was no need since it wasn't fair to the other passenger and no fault of his. She said she would write it up on her report.

Shortly after, she came back to me. Turned out, she did ask the passenger after all, and he didn't mind swapping seats. She also explained that he was staff (I found out later, First Officer on a positioning flight) so all was good.

Very impressed at cabin crew's efforts to put things right, for something caused by another part of the organisation.

If this was another airline, I don't see the same positive outcome.
