AA did everything in their power to shut them down. Lawsuits after lawsuit! Complaints nonstop to the City of Dallas that required Legend paying their attorneys all the time. They kept after them until it became impossible for Legend to exist.

JSX is headquartered out of Dallas. THAT is why AA is after them. They do have a great and loyal following. Many of my friends fly JSX almost exclusively, whereas they used to fly AA and with status. We have taken several trips where there were 16 or more of us and have chartered thru JSX.

This is nothing new. AA has done this before and will do this to the end of time, if it’s an airline that is showing any kind of loyal following based out of Dallas.

It is also why I laugh at the mayor of McKinney, that is full of hot air and full of himself. He wants the airport in McKinney to be a commercial airport serving customers w/ regularly scheduled flights from major airlines. That the terminal will have 12 gates, restaurants, etc. That he’s been in talks with several airlines that want to fly out of McKinney. Many of the people in the region around McKinney that think this will work have no clue how AA operates. AA will come in and lease as many gates as possible to prevent other airlines from having them. They will then operate maybe 1 or 2 diddly little flights out of there to maybe somewhere like OKC or HOU/IAH, using one of their regional carriers. Then in a few months, max a year, AA will claim it’s not profitable and cease service. But the gates are still leased to AA for several years and no one else can use them. McKinney voters did not pass the bond election last year, but do not fear, Mayor Fuller is still pushing to get that airport terminal built for commercial air. And the fools that really think they can drive 10-15 minutes to an airport in McKinney and get on a commercial flight to LAX, NYC and some even believe international. Yep, they drank the kool-aid.
But I digress……… AA will insure that no airline will be operating out of TKI. And they will also keep after JSX or anyone else that starts such and is successful if they are based out of Dallas.
Virtually every airport that has gates requires a minimum use rate or the gate is returned to the airport authority for redistribution to another airline. In addition many smaller airports retain full control of all gates and lease slots to airlines on a as needed bases.
JSX would not be attempting to use those gates anyway as it’s not their business model. They operate out of FBO’s to avoid the cost of gates and the FAA security requirements for bags and people.
