I have a ticket MCT-DOH-HKG. My plan to get to Muscat on other airlines got messed up, so I am looking for another route.

One option is to go to DOH and then book a separate ticket DOH-MCT. So I am effectively doing a turn around in MCT.

My question is, when I arrive in DOH the first time, would it be possible to check in my luggage to HKG straight away, even though I haven't gone to Muscat yet?


I've done this many times on BA at LHR, e.g. I have an LHR-AMS positioning flight and then AMS-LHR-HKG, never any problems checking luggage for the LHR-HKG flight before I go to AMS and back, i.e the bag doesn't go to AMS at all, so in theory QR should be able to do it....

The MCT-DOH-HKG transit time is 2.5 hours but I have about 10 hours in Oman, so I guess if they refuse, it makes more sense to bring the bag to Oman rather than storing it in DOH and having to go through immigration again
