Here again for quick overnight after a great stay last week and sadly its not as good. App showed I was upgrade to a standard suite and so did online check in, but upon arrival the front desk agents were very rude insisting the hotel does not have any suites due to renovation. I showed them the rooms were available for booking, but they stood firm and said it must be a mistake and even if I paid for it with cash they would not have a suite for me. So we got a standard room, which is fine but no welcome amenity (last time there was fruit at least).
Later on at dinner, which is highlight during renovations since you get full buffet even on theme nights the front desk manager who was super rude to me during check in came to find us and said that a suite had become available. A bit strange since they were very insistent the hotel had no suites at all during renovations just an hour ago. But he warned it was a smoking suite and had very strong smoking smell. Even though I kind of felt this was just to discourage us from taking the suite, we decided to not move due to the hassle and risk of smoke lingering. I did try and politely call him out on his previous lies about there being no suites at all during renovations, but it went nowhere as he just did not care or understand what was the issue.
The staff the Choices remain outstanding, the lady at the reception desk remembered my name without even looking at her list and knew our drink and food choices from our visit a week ago. Super impressive. The live cooking station chefs also remembered us which is even more impressive given how many customers they must have in a week. They even offered to do custom dishes if we didn't find anything we liked in the buffet. Thats 5 star service right there.
