The rule is very clear, Rule 7:
Return travel from the last stopover point must commence no later than 12 months after departure.
From posts here, I understand that QF doesn't always care about the rules. I can't imagine any circumstances in which I would ticket with them or use the online tool, what with the AA RTW Desk agents being 1) knowledgeable, 2) friendly, and 3) always willing to admit when what they said conflicts with the rule, in which case they go by the published rule.
