OP Yes Boston can be expensive, but you'll have to list what the alternatives are if you want to know the upsides. The Liberty is close to Charles St which is cute and has good shopping/touristy browsing, and is a short walk from Cambridge if you want to explore that way. It's also right next to the Charles/MGH red line metro stop to explore the rest of the city. What alternatives are you considering?
My other options were the St. Regis, Raffles and Mandarin Oriental, all of which are significantly more expensive than The Liberty LOL. Trip ended up being canceled anyways due to something else related to why we'd be in town (an orchestral concert).
