Note: i nornally never post in the RA experiences thread as i am quite comfy at each individual property thread.
Or... i don't want to get a reputation amongst my fellow RA that i am bragging that the orchestra and dancing troupe was my welcoming comité
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
, my first time visit left a positive impression.
Although St.Julians is party, beach, gentleman's club, bars booze and entertainment driven, IC Malta is an oasis amongst the chaotic realm.
RA recognition is very high.
- presented breakfast notes wishlist at Club Intercontinental lounge for any special unavailable off menu items
- prefered tables at Skybeach and Paranga restaurant
- managers at both venues providing dedicated service
- emailed beforehand with the club lounge staff and all wishes executed to perfection
- was granted a tour de chambres to survey the assortiment and differences in suites
- as staff are from all nationalities and part of the world, it was interesting to meet many different people
- door staff was eager to assist and security team was non intrusive (FRI/SAT: nightlife crowds)
- the hotel has a lot of deckchairs at the outdoor lower Narcis pool, we had no trouble finding one that suited our moods
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a panoramic suite on a prepaid rate for a week's stay.
This was upgraded upon check in at the club intercontinental lounge to a penthouse suite.
As S/O is ginger/blond built, he was weary of being allocated a room without any shelter / roof to protect from the blazing sun.
Fortunately we were allocated the penthouse suite on level 17, it has the overhang of the rooms above on level 18.
How are the rooms?
The penthouse suite is huge, where do i begin:
- end of the corridor, tail end of the building wing
- facing the lower pool, views of St,George's bay
- level 17
- non connecting
- floorplan: one can walk in circles inbetween kitchen - dining room - living room and mini gym
- YES: you read that right: it contains a threadmill
and crosstrainer : (and
NO: ofcourse Hades didn't use it but his fitness freak S/O did

- balcony with fainting lounge chair and 4 chairs and low table
- bathroom with seperate tub and showerstall
- wc with bidet (happy days!)
- amenities are Byredo as usual but also L'Occitane verbena bodylotion: handy against the bodily odeurs at the St.Julians bars and beach parlors
i will post full details in the property thread of
Intercontinental Malta Master Thread [merged]
How is the exec. lounge?
One word : OMG,
I know our dear L-rd has created in His infinite wisdom; the woman, the wheel, plumbing, airconditioning and sliced bread.
But his miracles also includes the drink :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinnie
There is unlimited stock at the Club Intercontinental Lounge à volonté on level 15.
For those thinking to be on a diet, they also have the 'Zero' version stocked...,
Besides that, the lounge does a good spread in breakfast, afternoon tea and evening presentation.
Foodwise, it can tide you over and provide a reason not to leave the hotel as everything is available at ease. There are at least 3 warm options.
Drinkswise, catering to a British crowd, all alcoholic favorites are present so : joy to the world
And yes, the lounge does offer champagne.
a slight repost but at least something to keep your spirits up .....

yes you might have guessed that the Club Intercontinental Lounge evening theme is "blithe spirits"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blithe_Spirit_(play)
A jolly affair to be enjoyed with a wink.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Modesty permits me not to post this in the thread of
Aventine
Post your IHG Welcome Amenities or Gifts
IC Malta's welcome gift for RA is kinda saying: " don't you just love it, here i am "

Yes it does say: "here i am, in the the center of what i call : attention"
How was the minibar?
The penthouse suite has a complete stocked fridge.
It has enough options to satisfy any h*rn* society boozer or any pious devotées

Not to bad, there is a lot of stock & a lot of choice ....
And not bad with the pricing either.....

You could get cheaper at the Wellbee's supermarket located 2 blocks behind the hotel....
https://welbees.mt/store-locator
But one must be a ballerina to dodge the traffic trying to cross the street....
What was good and what was bad?
Bad
- St.Julians as neighbourhood does a bit of getting used to....
- There is a visible difference in styling in the building of the older lower floors GF-15 and the new "highline" floors 17 -19
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Did book in € and i thought it was fair value for the facilities, recognition and for certainty of brand standards.
Competition in St. Julian is:
- Corinthia : old junk
- Hyatt : LALF likes it :

(before all froufrou in bed with Four Seasons)
Would you return?
Yes,
- i might take Nina along as we are due for a girl's night/weekend/midweek/week away from our men to indulge
- it would be a safe choice to park Mother in this hotel, the facilities, Skybeach / Paranga restaurant and Club Intercontinental Lounge would be most comfortable for her
- i could take both my sons here for getaway, there is enough actionwise to keep them occupied
- after my last family reunion in IC Bali Jimbaran, i can see IC Malta fulfill the role as family reunion hotel in the next 5 years,
And ending with the

S/O was as happy as he can be, in that the hotel offers guests access to a well equiped gym operated by Cynergi

As long as he is busy, i have a life.

Does the hotel welcome me as RA as a valued guest....
Solet's walk through the RA welcome letter:

IMHO & personal experience:
As an IHG One Rewards Diamond Royal Ambassador Member, you know that travelling, either in business or leisure, should be more than simply checking in and checking out of hotels. It should be an experience that enriches rewards and simplifies your stay.
-
indeed the hotel went all out to make sure to reach out per email pre-stay to be informed of preferences
- check in at club intercontinental lounge reconfirmed those preferences
- it seems all venues know that there is a RA walking amongst them
- we did get a couple of calls during our stay to ask how things went and if we had any requests
You can enjoy several exclusive benefits including:
- Guaranteed two categories Room upgrade. Panaromic suite > Penthouse suite = cat+2
- Complimentary mineral water daily. And was replenished daily (still & sparkling)
- Amenities upon arrival. (See above photo: fruit was also replenshed daily)
- Guaranteed early check in at 10:00 AM (our room was ready at 14.00 H for our arrival)
- Guaranteed 4 PM late check out. (was offered but did not need as flight at 13.50 H)
- Complementary Club Intercontinental lounge access. (indeed, we enjoyed the lounge)
- Food and Beverage Rewards. (Whoops used those all up last January at IC Parklane London)
- Complimentary internet throughout the hotel. (Amazing fast everywhere at the balcony, Skybeach rootop pool, Narcis outdoor lower pool + Paranga restaurant at the beach )
3)
The hotel is perfect for a week's stay getaway. With club access, it feels like an all inclusive resort stay.
