Unless one finds a way to send email to AA (there is a convoluted way), one can't get past the first screen to request missing miles since it needs the AAdvantage # and the corresponding e-ticket number to work. In MS's case, that did not work, so there was no way to proceed and provide boarding pass or any other documents/scans/screenshots. She used the Chat option on the AA site to get the request submitted.
