@the810 my three tips would be to a) expect nothing of the hot breakfast or even skip it and have breakfast at the lounge, b) bring enough water with you, if possible (at PTY, after the usual general security control stations to get airside, they also had a second security control at the gate, which I've never seen before and caused like 80% of passengers having to angrily discard the water they just bought), c) be prepared having to actively ask for all the drinks and extra bread you want. That might make the experience better / more controlled.
