Still one might prefer one short hop + ultra long haul, especially for those in J, compared to 2 long hauls in a row.
Different story in Y i guess. So the XX-IST-SYD is at the minimum as attractive a connection as LHR-PER-SYD, with the big advantage of not having to connect to London if based somewhere else in Europe.
