TG customer service noted the forfeit amount, however indicated refund would be issued in 6 months. I’m aware of the financial issues TG has had but this still seems excessively long (and probably violates many countries’ consumer protection, however I’m guessing Thailand is light in that department). Anybody have any insight into getting a quicker refund or the reliability of seeing $$ in 180 days? Or do I just suck it up and stick with current itinerary?
The 180 days is a standard line, somewhat common is Asia - MH says much the same thing. My experience is that THAI will take some weeks (~8-12). But I have not had to do this recently, so YMMV.
If the ticket is to the US, then I understand that DOT provisions may apply, but frankly ‘the squeeze might not be worth the juice’. Others with actual experience may offer a more refined view, but the ball is in your court - either stay with what you have, or cancel and go through the refund process with eyes wide open.
