The Platinum lounge is smaller but the offerings are little different than Al Mourjan but no Champagne now, some sort of sparkling wine is served
Al Safwa would only be accessible on the return flight if you opted to pay $440 more for the Classic fare but paying 30% more for the ticket would not be worth it to me
Yeah, if you paid up $220 each way you'd have Al Safwa in both directions because of inbound and outbound First. It's not worth it to me, I've been there many times... yes it's very nice but I wouldn't value it anywhere near $220. On these "good" P fares I'll just choose the shortest connection possible and be on my way.
On a standard fare with AM or AS access I'm never in a hurry, but on a P, no lounge fare I'm happy to have 1.5 a hour connection and just get out of dodge, since the onboard service is the same.
There's a different route that I'm considering at the moment on the P fare, but will just take the short connection and go to the Platinum lounge if there's any extra time after getting bussed in for 40 minutes and clearing security. It would also be Al Safwa eligible if I paid $200 more but 100% not worth that to me. But everyone has their own price for the lounges, some may value it that high, especially for a 12 hour layover, but others may not.
