2. If there's been a schedule change or you have an illegal connection, DL can open award space on any DL operated flight(s), but can't force KE to open award inventory for you. You might be able to reroute to a later ICN departure to another DL hub that has a same day connection to LGA.

3. Remember that if you use the GUC, it also upgrades into domestic FC if a FC seat is available, with the inventory bucket restrictions. Also PS fares book into C+ on domestic connecting flights.

4. Another possibility might be to change to a ICN-JFK nonstop.
Thank you for your response!
1. On the BKK-ICN flight, it is KE and economy X fare.
2. That makes sense. I don't have an illegal connection as of now, but it's very tight.
3. Yes, I am not having the GUC applied to the domestic segments.
4. I don't want to fly on KE nonstop from ICN-JFK if I don't have to. I hear their planes are very hot and I want to avoid this on a flight longer than 5-6 hours.

Basically, what I would like to know is if I fly BKK-ICN-DTW, with a short and potentially missed connection, is my best bet to apply the GUC only to the ICN-DTW leg? And if I miss the ICN-DTW leg with the GUC applied due to a missed connection and have to fly in Y or PS on a different flight, would that GUC go back into my account?
