If arriving at LAX when the location is open, I would consider renting from Hertz at the LAX Marriott, and just hopping on the hotel shuttle from the terminal to the hotel. You might even be able to return the vehicle to the Hertz airport location for no extra charge if you wish -- depending on the rate code utilized.
