People can talk about her having a broad support among pilots - but it’s pretty clear she is mostly fighting for inexperienced entry-level pilots such as herself. If I were a an experienced long haul Captain I’m not convinced I’d want to give up my steady $300K+ salary for strike pay, just to maybe get an increase that’s less than the percentile increase of a new hire.
To be honest I’ve gone a full 180 on this one. I was critical of management early on for not getting a deal done to avoid this whole scenario. It’s now becoming clear that the union is so unrealistic that no deal is possible if they are literally balking at a 30% wage increase over 3 years.
