As someone who works in IT I can tell you that the back end of the website, iOS app, and android app is (if they designed it correctly) the same - data from the same source systems appears in all front end applications. The company is not going to charge more money in one vs the other.

The backend logic is highly unlikely to be discerning what the front end browser/platform is in order to determine pricing. And as mentioned, AA doesn't pay Apple any money for app related actives since the app is free and there are no in-app purchases paid through the iTunes Store. Maybe a small fee to put the app in the store, but that's about it.
But I have seen where my non-elite status companion and I both got upgrade offers. We were on different PNRs. Their offer was lower than mine. That doesn't mean it happens *all* the time, but it did in that particular instance. On the other hand, we've been on other flights together and had the exact same offer.
