My assumption is my suitcase which was about 450 euros looked really new (no stickers) and fancy.. possibly stolen as a result ?
I'll try to keep pestering them but i also travel a lot (one flight a week to one flight every 2 weeks on average).. I've only had a delayed suitcase twice.. once it arrived same day on the next flight and another time it arrived one day later at home (with KLM and they were handling it great)... can't say the same of sas.
Airtag is something I've been considering.. currently i use Tile because i use android but only on my really valuable backpack filled with electronics/computers for work.. since if that would get checked in and damaged or lost I would lose in the range of 12 000~15 000 USD minimum. Gladly the suitcase itself wasn't filled with too much other then some clothes and some foam for the new suitcase and a gift of dried elk sausage (legal to take with) from norway... picked up the suitcase at my clients HQ as its a very lengthy and difficult suitcase to order.
Maybe ill get a cheap iphone just to put airtags in all my luggage from now on.. Tile is cool but limited in accuracy.
Sorry this is happening to you. It is indeed annoying.
The best thing to do would be to try and arrange for them to give you access to their lost property storage so you can search yourself. It may be an option the next time you are visitng that airport.
Otherwise, do keep pestering the local baggage service at all affected airports. Your bags are somewhere. The more time that goes on, the less inclined they feel to look for it. I wish I knew why that was. Would also follow Nick's advice about World Tracer.
Hope you get reunited with your suitcase. It's unlikely it is stolen - they just don't communicate or organise themselves very well.
Also, would you recommend Tile as a viable alternative to Air Tags? I don't wanna spend the money on an iPhone just for Air Tags, but it feels like that is what I am going to have to do one day
