Well, I just cancelled a Gold booking I have for January at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, and I rebooked it for non-Gold. I was booked in a Gold One Bedroom Suite, and I got a regular One Bedroom Suite instead. This brings my rate down to 56% of what I was going to pay. Hard to say if it will have a material impact on the lounge occupancy (for sure there will some impact, but the question is how much?), but it makes very little sense for me to book Gold in this case. Both suites will be renovated, and are of a similar size. I'll just be on a lower floor. At the QEH, the lounge is on its own floor, so you need to take an elevator to visit the lounge even when you're booking on Fairmont Gold, so it doesn't even make it more inconvenient to get to the lounge (unlike some other properties).
