We're mostly interested in driving around/sightseeing. Is the Ritz in a decent location for that? Some folks mention that there's nothing nearby, have to drive 15 minutes for restaurants? Sheraton appears gone (or not bookable for our dates), but there are a bunch of mediocre-looking Iberostar (IHG) and Dreams/Alua properties (Hyatt), and a 65sqm junior suite at (the almost worryingly well-reviewed) Royal Hideaway Corales Beach can be booked for $140 worth of Choice points, about a third of the Ritz. We'd likely pick a good location over luxury, but don't want to be in all-inclusive hell, fwiw.
Finally, people mention "Villas" upthread -- I assume this refers to what appears to be calles "Club Retreat" now?
The Royal Hideaway Corales Beach looks amazing and is well regarded, located in La Caleta which is a great location for walks and dining choices. It is just around the corner from the old Sheraton.
I maybe missing something here but how is this bookable using Choice points?
