SQ's Golden Pigeon

It is indeed a bird with its wings spread (presumably for takeoff, although it could be simply to fill the space on the vertical stabilizer). I've heard the logo referred to as the "Golden Pigeon." Not sure how it came about, or if that is the accurate name. Does anyone know? Don't think there's anything on SQ's website explaining, and haven't seen anything in the onboard mags.
