As Expertflyer has stopped spitting out availability for TK flights I jumped on the Amadeus Developer API that still provides availability for TK flights.

One interesting thing I saw is that I-availability (promo-awards) is returned as well. On longhaul routes as expected there is usually no availability - however for many flights the availability spits out WAITLIST_OPEN.

This raises the question - can you request to be put on a waitlist for a promo award (probably only by phone) - and does anyone have experience with the process? Is the waitlist-spot be likely to clear or does it depend on TK M&S status?

At Lufhtansa - for example - you can request being waitlisted on all LH flights - and as Senator those waitlist requests are highly likely to be approved within a few seconds (afair whenever there are still seats sold in Z-class).
