Cancellation Operational constraints

Our flight from Glasgow today has been Cancelled due to Operational constraints which was due to depart at 11:30 on BA1483and now they have put us on the 16:10 flight BA 1489 which means that BA have now booked us on the 21:30 Thai airways flight instead of the BA/Qatar flight which is far from the standards of BA/Qatar and we are unable to see or select the seats on Thai airways. I do not enjoy the long haul flights that are non stop, so not looking forward to the journey, . The message that I got cancelled the flight due to Operational constraints so can anyone tell me my Rights regarding if I can claim compensation? I have spoken with BA asking if they will pay for food at Heathrow but I was told that they are unable to do that.
On top of all of that, I have stayed overnight in Glasgow due to the morning flight. I am not happy. Thank you for any advice. Ps, I did ask to be put on the earlier flight but it's fully booked and the flight into Bangkok is 2.5 hours later than Qatar .. we have already booked a taxi in Bangkok and trying to get in touch with the taxi company... The taxi journey is around 8 hours ...
