However, IIRC BA was heavily scolded on food some years ago (perhaps introduction of "time-of-day-concept"?) and after that kept a steady low level of quality? While Finnair has made enshittification the business model only lately. So it can be a timing issue too. A few years down the line, when people have adapted to the new baseline (ie gotten used to pack their own snacks, drinks, pillow/blanket, entertainment and a trashbag for the "quiche" before each AY flight ) then maybe less contempt!
Everything you say may be true, but price is still a key determining factor at least for myself. I'm now looking at business class between Hong Kong and a few ports in Europe, AY is 25%-40% cheaper than BA, CX, Qatar, etc for my particular dates. I've never tried the AirLounge seat but am willing to do so given the price difference. If AY wasn't any cheaper, I'd probably go with another airline. But they are.
