I genuinely do not recognise others' experience of "abysmal" and "worse than pot noodle" and "worse than child meal" J catering on BA ex-LHR. It's not great but it's not horrible either and I certainly think of myself as a food pedant for the most part. I do miss the main course salads which I thought was often what BA used to do best but have usually had decent meals in that direction. It is clearly less good than on AF or LX (let alone the likes of JL) but that's been the case pretty much forever.
Ex-US meals are atrocious, but again, they have been so for many, many years and tend to be the same poor levels on most European airlines I fly across the pond (some US airlines have better catering from base but conversely tend to be weaker from Europe).
For anyone wanting diversity ex-LHR, I personally find KSML and AVML to be pretty good and will often order them if I'm likely to have a menu I've already had several times and exhausted already. Ex-outstations, SPML can be pretty poor though, so often, eating in lounges is the way forward.
