IIRC all passports (other than emergency travel documents) are issued from the UK and have been for sometime now.

Why is it a daunting task? The online form is easy to complete and easier than a paper form because once you enter the details of your old passport it will pre-populate some of the details for you.

You can upload a digital photo into the application taken on your smart phone / computer and it will immediately tell you if it meets the requirements or not so you can immediately try again. The requirements are listed on the HM Passport Office website.

The biggest problem you’ll likely incur is finding an envelope and then queuing up at a post office or courier company counter to send your old passport back to the UK!
