Fingers crossed you will be ok. I certainly would not accept a downgrade either.
My experience with a BKK-KUL-ICN few weeks ago was, that they will not go outside of oneworld (and even select OW partners) or flights with an MH codeshare. Mind you, this was dealing with their call centre, so airport staff may have more discretion. I was offered CX or a codeshare on KE, and they could not find the SQ/JAL options I had lined up. I ended up cancelling and rebooking on JAL.
