Less than 2 days before my last leg SIN - KUL - AKL,
I received an email advising me of involuntary reroute. replaced by a direct NZ flight SIN to AKL.
I would have accepted reroute with QF via SYD/MEL, but not NZ because their hard and soft product is poor, not to mention, very average lounge experience (ironically even as NZ's own Gold Elite) vs my access as OWE in One World member lounges.

I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get through, over the next half day trying to reinstate my original flights and routing, but lost my original seat selection because of this.
I requested my original seat with the CS on the phone, he said he would check what could be done. Then cut me off as I was waiting for a response, rather than to tell me that it could not be done.
Can my original seat selection ever be reinstated?

What ticked me off was my original flight was able to be reinstated because my original flights was never cancelled or oversold. This means someone manually performed this reroute. What could be the possible reason for this reroute when there were no IROPS?

Anyone else with similar experience?
Was there a schedule change on any of the flights? I’m actually surprised MH rebooked automatically on OAL. I know in your situation it was unfavorable, but I would guess most prefer rebooking on nonstop especially if it was rebooked onto SQ.
