Just want to pop into this thread to say that when I lived in Abu Dhabi I enjoyed going to Velocity, the sports bar in the hotel. I always found the food to be decent sports bar food, and the drinks (I suspect I always was drinking beer) relatively affordable (at least by Abu Dhabi standards, where drinking in general is expensive). I also seem to recall that they often offered deals on food, but I can't remember if that was available to everyone, if it was a day-of-the-week deal, or it required a groupon or something like that. (I just went to their website and see they're offering some insanely inexpensive drink specials at certain times.) The biggest negative -- and unfortunately this is common in Abu Dhabi hotel bars, is that there was a lot of cigarette smoke.
