Generally, though, CW menus are boringly predictable in offering meat/fish/veggie mains and starters plus soup, pudding and cheese. Unless one is particularly fussy (or the food is inedible) then I maintain one can fashion a meal out of it that will stave off hunger pangs. If one has particularly strong dislikes or allegies or whatever then I suppose that’s when one would pre-order a special meal.
To repeat multiple discussions on this thread, special meals don't cater for allergies. They cater for other medical needs, or for personal or religious preferences, but you cannot order a meal that addresses a particular allergy. Nor will you be offered alternatives to things like nuts, with your drinks, if you have a nut allergy. Allergies are one of several reasons why someone may want to bring their own food on board.

And I do wonder, is it reasonable to think that, given the cost of a business class flight, one should have to "fashion a meal" to "stave off hunger pangs"? I can see that that might be acceptable in Economy. And I'm not arguing that you can't do it in BA Business. But if we're doing it because the quality of the food or the menu design is poor (and in my personal experience and from recent posts on here, both are possible) I'm not sure fashioning a meal to stave off hunger pangs is something we should accept as reasonable. However, as I mentioned below, I know what kind of quality to expect from BA (e.g. meals that bear little or no resemblance to the description, or are missing items, or have multiple meal choices with the same ingredients, or are poorly cooked and presented), and I still choose to fly them, because of the loyalty scheme. I'm sure we've all flown with other airlines and had better experiences.

This was a simple discussion about how to get around the poor quality, or unpredictable quality, of BA Club meals. I think people were happy to know they could order a child's meal or bring a pot noodle on board.
