Oh quite the contrary, champagne in wine glasses is very often seen as the best way to do it. You get more on the nose and it gets more air to it. See for example the Pommery Louise
glasses in the CCR. Pencil-thin flutes you get none of that and they don't hold enough, and old-fashioned coupes are in my view
useless because it just goes flat. It also spills out of them very easily.
Me... somewhere in the middle, like a tall chalice or tulip shaped (gulp) prosecco glass. Though in the grand scheme, I
suppose there are more important things to worry about
