The only upgrade I had in my early time as Gold was from transatlantic Club to First. From what I’ve read in here, the algorithm plans it to show you what you might get if you pay for something better and in my case the cunning plan has tempted me occasionally to fork out for first. But I wonder whether most Golds would know anyway of the delights of Premium Economy(!). Within Europe, I’ve never had an upgrade but the Gold benefits of pre booked exit rows and, generally, a free adjacent seat make the offer of an upgrade somewhat marginal in my view.
