Found the ticket counter. The photo helped. Unfortunately the Kabukicho bound bus wasn’t leaving for 2 hours, so the agent suggested I take the bus to Shinjuku Station West / Keio Dept store which was leaving in 10 mins, so I took it.
But it’s a 17 min walk with luggage to my hotel from there. Really no worse than where the Yamanote line would have gotten me.
Does Grab work in Tokyo or should I use the “Go” app if I don’t want to walk? Dunno how much it would cost but it’ll be dark by the time I arrive, I imagine. During daylight hours I don’t mind walking as much.
Suggestions?
I’m overall happy with my choice, no having to change trains. They took a credit card and so I was able to save my Yen notes.
But IIRC, ride sharing isn’t really a “thing” in Japan, and the apps just connect you with a normal taxi driver? I’m so spoiled from using Grab in Thailand where it’s dirt cheap—taking “taxis” has never been so fun. :-)
UPDATE: Evidently Uber does work here, but it just connects you with ordinary taxis. Still, I want to be able to be guaranteed to use a credit card and not deal with the language barrier re: destinations. I checked Grab and it doesn’t work in Japan—looks like only countries in SEA.
