That’s silly. it would be better for us as customers, but we don’t really think that the world’s largest hotel chain is run for the customer? We are the product. And frankly, that’s ok, as long as we can vote with our feet. Specifically to your comment, though, hotels that become part of the M umbrella do it because they expect a better financial outcome. If they can do that by increasing their top line from appearing in Bonvoy searches without having to pay extra, that is the right business decision. If guests end up not choosing that hotel because of it, that might change their decision…

Looks very deceiving when those like RC Singapore and Bvlgari hotels show up on Bonvoy search.
While people who know about their non participation can avoid them easily, others who are less informed will thinks these hotels are part of Bonvoy.
Especially when the note about their non participating is mixed together with some other not important notes.
Again, that would make it easier for us as patrons, but not necessarily congruent with corporate goals of making a profit (which I support). It would be nice, however, if there was a search option that highlighted the differences, or perhaps more legal disclaimers at the bottom (a la the cancellation fees) when you’re booking.
