Quick Review...
Stayed for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend (Sun-Tues) on points as a Globalist.
ROOMS - 1st night booked on points into Std King room City View. Saw in app a day or two before arrival got upgraded into Partial View room. This room faced Mission Ave. and definitely felt quieter at night than the Suite we got facing the ocean on the 2nd night. I think they were at capacity Sunday night. 2nd night used a SUA into Grand Ocean Suite. It was a corner unit at the corner of Pacific and 1st St. Standard King room had 1 sink and shower only, while suite had dual sinks and freestanding tub and shower. Robes (included in both rooms) were some of the comfiest I've experienced. Overall hard product was very enjoyable
GLOBALIST BREAKFAST - Served at Piper, Globalist get $40/pp covered. On weekends (including my holiday Monday), they have a $50/pp breakfast buffet and a small a la carte menu. Kids under 5 are free, I think. I was pretty happy with the spread. Some nice items were the brisket and
Shakshouka. On weekdays, it is strictly a la carte menu (bigger than the weekend a la carte menu). Entrees were mid-$20s, while Latte was $7, Coffee was $4. In terms of crowds, I will say on the holiday weekend I'm glad I got there at 8am (with no reservations), otherwise I'm pretty sure I would've had to wait. I would make reservations for weekends if timing is important to you. On Tuesday, it was definitely less crowded and reservations probably weren't necessary. Service was a little slow/sparse on the busy day, which is understandable.
SPA - Booked a mani/pedi for the wife one morning. Would just like to point out that mani/pedi services don't include access to spa amenities (sauna, shower, relaxation room, etc). There is also 15% discount for OC/SD locals but only M-Th I believe.
SERVICE - Overall great interactions with everyone, from front desk to valet to people at the Beach Rambler. We didn't use the Beach Rambler on Labor Day, so don't know if they ran out of beach chairs/umbrellas early or not. Did use them on Tuesday, and the one of the guys helped set up the umbrella and chair on the beach for us. Not sure if this is there all the time either, but there was a family game room set up in like a conference type room. It had 1 arcade system (with multiple games), TV (playing a movie), coloring sheets, board games, books, ping pong table, corn hole toss, ladder toss, large foamy tetris building blocks. My kid was entertained in there the whole time the wife was at the spa.
