As expected the AF PSL transferred me to flying blue, and the agent told me that basically there was no availability on other airlines at my dates. He checked also other departure and arrival airports per my request and indicated that I could indeed get a refund with zero penalty but recommended me to keep this booking alive and book a revenue ticket which could be refunded as if availability on qantas or another partner airline would show up I could take it. After my request he told me their internal rebooking policies for SkyTeam and non SkyTeam partner airlines and they must have award buckets available to rebook (X in my case). I have to say the guy was friendly and knowledgeable but unfortunately there was no successful outcome. Just by curiosity, I also contacted GA and they said to contact air France as the ticket was issued on their stock. So I guess I will book a revenue ticket to get my destination sadly, for 1000€ more than using miles. It's very sad that no customer protection policies a-la EC 261 exist in hong Kong or in Australia in my case (not sure that would have helped me in this particular case though considering we are 5 months before the flight)
