Delayed Baggage – I'm I right to be disappointed with Aegean's behaviour?
In mid August I traveled from KZS to RHO with my family (of 4). From RHO we where to take a taxi to the port, to board a ferry to Patmos, in order to continue with our vacation. We checked-in 5 bags at KZS, unfortunately none made it to Rhodes. Goldair's staff was very helpful and assured us they'd do their best to retrieve our baggage. They gave us a leaflet stating that for a 24h+ delay we could claim €40 per person (€60 for *G) for toiletries etc. On our way to the port we stopped at a pharmacy and bought €140 of shampoos, sunscreens, etc. Our baggage where delivered to us after 36h – I was pleasantly surprised as the itinerary was quite complex.
I made a claim to A3 asking for the €140 but they replied they can only reimburse €60 because the receipt was for "medicine" and not for "toiletries" – which I didn't notice at the time as I was preoccupied with our lost baggage and potentially f*d vacation... (my best guess is that the pharmacy is scamming the Tax Office using lower VAT rates that they should).
Typically A3 is correct not to reimburse the full amount, but it makes me sad to think I've been an A3*G for 10 years, I've spent tens of thousands of euros on them, and they refuse me €80 on a technicality.
