I'm not sure DL has an award on VS for LHR-SYD.

In any event, if they did, this journey would be nearly 50% longer than the direct route. FLL-LAX-SYD is roughly 9,800 miles. FLL-LHR-SYD (lets ignore the HKG stop for now) is 14,900 miles----5,100 miles extra. That's a lot of extra flying. ATL-SVO is 5,300 miles.
