meanwhile if you look at it from the other side, 2-3-2 was busines class in a 777 of Air France until earlier this year (and in the "famous" EK still is!), and until relatively recently recliners were also what you got in J and full flat was reserved for F.
TBH hard product wise I find PE quite close to the long-haul J of 20-30 years ago.
I was mostly trying to make a point that the gap between C and Y is growing (C is getting better, Y is getting worse) but... let me not start on the cabin width... As a reminder 777 initially featured a 3-3-3 configuration. The big advantage of 2-X-2 is that every pax. needs to disturb max. 1 person to get to the toilet, compared to the 3-X-3.
