Rates with bonus points. Has anyone ever received these without filing a missing pt?
Hello all
Lifetime Diamond on Hilton/Perpetual Highest ranking with IHG whatever they are calling it at the moment.
I already qualified for the IHG top tier this year so decided to venture into Marriott. There is a Marriott Branded hotel I was interested in staying at in Hong Kong in the future, so decided a month or so ago to crank up the Marriott Points.
I booked a few of the "Bonus Point" rates, and am wondering if there is something I am missing? I have yet to receive the points I paid for without filing multiple missing point requests.
Is this normal with Marriott? What could I be doing wrong?
I have stopped booking such rates, as they only lead to frustration.
In my missing point request, under the "contact us" link, I initially write that I HAVE received the base points for the stay, but not the "Bonus Points" which I have paid for with a special rate.
Typically, I receive a reply back indicating the person on the other end does not understand the concept of a rate for bonus points to the effect of. Thank you for contacting us, we see that you have received XXXX points (The base points without the bonus Points) for the stay. Please contact us again if you are missing points from a stay... or words to that affect.
I then reply back that I do not contest that I have received the base points for the stay, but am missing the "BONUS POINTS" which are paid for with a special rate in the booking process.
So far, after 3 back and forths, I have received points for 3 of 4 times I booked a bonus point rate.
These show up as a "SERVICE RECOVERY" in my account activity.
Questions:
1. Has anyone actually received points without filing a missing point request when booking a bonus point rate?
2. Is there some special step that needs to be taken when checking into a hotel such as reminding them that this is a bonus point rate so that the hotel will give the points directly?
